Applied Biosystems, a brand of Thermo Fisher Scientific, produces human identification software used in forensic DNA analysis. Multiple product lines, including 3500/3730 Series Data Collection Software and GeneMapper ID-X, were affected by CVE-2026-17583, which allowed tampering of DNA data files. Updates have been released to add digital signatures and mitigate the risk.
