Man Is Suing Facebook, 27 Women For "Are We Dating The Same Guy" Facebook Group

These groups, which are hosted in several major cities across the US, are used by women to warn each other about potentially problematic men on the dating scene.
The allegations made in the groups are not fact checked in any way, leading to the possibility that damaging lies could be spread about men without their ever knowing.
This case will put it to the test whether that's actually illegal.
According to the man's attorneys, they want Facebook to play a more active role in content moderation after the company allegedly ignored their pleas to remove the content for months.
It's difficult to hold Facebook legally responsible for content users share on the platform, so this could be a hard case to get off the ground.
It'll be interesting to see if the users themselves may be on the hook for something they shared in a private group.
