Pro-Russia Group Killnet Launches DDoS Attacks Against German Websites

The Pro-Russia group Killnet launched last week DDoS attacks against the websites of German airports, administration bodies, and banks. The attacks were in response to the German government's decision to send Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine. The Federal Cyber Security Authority is investigating the attacks, which targeted airports, financial sector, and federal and state administrations. The Killnet group announced the attacks on its Telegram channel. The BSI explained that it is not easy to attribute the attacks to a specific actor, as multiple hacktivists operate under the Killnet umbrella. The attacks made some websites unavailable, but there was no indication of direct impacts on services. German intelligence alerted the government about potential cyberattacks from Russia-linked threat actors against critical infrastructure in the country.
