Google has recently announced its own ChatGPT alternative and rival, Bard, which is an experimental conversational AI service. It is designed to engage in conversations with users and answer their queries. Bard is powered by Google's Language Model for Dialog Applications and will draw on all the information from the web to curate responses. It seeks to combine the breadth of the world's knowledge with the power, intelligence and creativity of large language models. Bard is currently only available to trusted testers, but Google intends to make it more widely available to the public in the coming weeks. Google promises to combine external feedback with their own internal testing to make sure Bard's responses meet a high bar for quality, safety and groundedness in real-world information. However, AI models trained on text scraped online are prone to exhibiting racial and gender biases and repeating hateful language, which may be a limitation for Bard. Along with Google's AI image generator, Imagen, and its AI music generator, MusicLM, Bard has been added to a list of advanced AI services that have yet to be released to the public.
