Facebook And Instagram Ran Ads For Deepfake App Featuring Nude Underage Celebrity

Facebook has come under scrutiny in recent months for failing to stop the spread of deepfake content, and it seems like the problem isn't getting any better.
According to a disturbing report from NBC News last week, Facebook and Instagram promoted ads for a deepfake app that featured a blurred fake nude photo of the actress Jenna Ortega, taken when she was 16 years old.
These ads were for a sleazy app called Perky AI that said it could be used to undress photos of women with artificial intelligence.
According to NBC News, the app developer ran more than 260 different ads on Facebook's platforms since September.
One of the ads featuring Ortega had over 2,600 views alone.
Thankfully, Facebook suspended the Perky app's page after journalists reached out to the company.
It's beyond troubling that this kind of content was allowed on the platform in the first place.
